Percutaneous endoluminal arterial cryoenergy improves vascular remodelling after angioplasty.
This study aimed to investigate the effect of percutaneous endoluminal arterial cryoenergy immediately after balloon angioplasty on vascular remodeling. Restenosis, the main complication after coronary artery angioplasty, is a complex phenomenon in which vascular remodeling plays a prominent role. Observations of reduced scarring in freeze-induced wounds suggest potential value for cryoenergy i...
متن کاملTetrahydrofuran (co)polymers as potential materials for vascular prostheses.
Polyethers were studied as potential materials for vascular prostheses. By crosslinking poly(tetramethylene oxide)(PTMO) with poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO), hydrophilic networks were obtained containing PTMO as well as PEO. Attempts were made to reduce the crystallinity and melting point of PTMO because of the required elastomeric behaviour at body temperature. Compared to non-crosslinked PTMO, c...
متن کاملLate thoracic pseudo-aneurysm causing collapse of vascular prostheses.
The outcome of patients with thoracic vascular prostheses is usually uneventful. We report two cases of collapse of thoracic vascular prostheses which occurred ten and forty years, respectively, after the implantation. The diagnoses were obtained preoperatively by CT-scan or NMR and angiography. Both patients were successfully treated with prosthetic replacement by an open approach.
متن کاملPhysical Impacts of Compaction Treatments on PET Textile Vascular Prostheses
(Received: May 4, 2010; June 10, 2010) Abstract: Textile cardiovascular prostheses are woven or knitted structures made generally from biocompatible polyester fibres. After production, they have to undergo special treatments before packaging such as compaction. This treatment is necessary to reduce porosity especially for knitted structures, but it can modify poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) ...
متن کاملEndoluminal scaffolds for vascular reconstruction and exclusion of aneurysms from the cerebral circulation.
The latest class of neuroendovascular devices being evaluated is intended to treat cerebral aneurysms. In addition to inducing flow stasis-mediated thrombosis of aneurysms and thus at times being referred to as flow diverters, these devices reconstitute pathologic arterial segments to near-physiologic normalcy. The successful implementation of such an endoluminal scaffold for vascular reconstru...
